Those things all cost money and a severe amount of knowledge and time. Luckily, you've found these free image editing tutorials with no strings attached because long gone are the days of finding extremely good and well researched information for free. The Internet has become a cesspool for commercialization. As soon as the lawyers and big corporations got involved, there went any freedoms that were the good ole days of the once free and open Internet. Retouching Images
The entire reason most of us get into image editing and to search for image editing tutorials is because we want to know more about how to make images look better. We desire to know how to smooth the faces upon the subjects within the image. We need to remove objects from an image and it intrigues us on how this is accomplished. When beginning, this concept may appear like magic but rest assured, it is easier than one might believe.
What does retouching an image really mean? This is the concept of changing an image by adjusting the color, white balance, contrast, brightness, saturation, using the tools within an image editing software and potentially removing objects and imperfections from the image editors' or clients' point of view. For example, red eyes when a photo was taken, enhancing those old time photos or perhaps adding vibrant colors, brightening a darkened image or even advanced concepts such as adding color to a black and white image. Shadows and Shading
Shadows and shading are everywhere within an image. These two terms are not synonymous but they do go hand in hand in most cases. These two items bring an image to life and transition from that 2 dimensional early Tom and Jerry cartoon appearance to a 3 dimensional real life image. These two terms also depend highly upon the lighting conditions of the image as well as the focus object or objects within the image. Is there sunlight or are we in a very brightly lit room? What angle is the light hitting the objects so we know from what angle to cast the shadows? Is the shading correct on the back of the object giving that darker appearance? An example of this would be light hitting an orange. We would be able to see the light on the front of the orange reflecting and the shadow behind it. We would also be able to see the darker area on the back of the orange. -
Background Removal
This is a favorite amongst beginners of image editing. There are several places on the Internet to remove the background of an image nowadays. Most of these places do it for free. Even Google has the capability of doing this for free and they do a great job. A beginner can always use those and they are severely faster than doing it yourself but then why would you be reading these free image editing tutorials unless you wanted to know how to do it yourself. The entire point of going through image editing tutorials is to learn and that is what we will teach. -
Surreal Designs
What are surreal designs? Elegantly put, this is an artist's design that surpasses reality. Surrealism can be expressed not only when editing images but also in writing, films, theater, painting and just about anything that can be expressed. The word or term “Surrealism” was first used by a French poet named Guillaume Apollinaire. -
